🔩 Pinion Coupling – Eicher 11.10 (Serrated / Coupling Flange)

📌 What It Is

The pinion coupling (also sometimes referred to as a gear or differential coupling flange) is a drivetrain component that connects the pinion gear assembly at the rear axle with the driveshaft or companion flange, enabling torque to pass smoothly into the final drive gearset inside the differential housing. It ensures mechanical engagement, torque transfer and proper alignment of the pinion gear with the driveshaft. The coupling face may be serrated or have splines to provide secure engagement with the matching part.

⚙️ Application – Eicher 11.10

  • Vehicle: Eicher 11.10 — a popular light‑to‑medium commercial truck (~10 ton GVW) used for urban and intercity haulage and cargo duties.

  • Location: Rear axle pinion / differential input area — couples the driveshaft companion flange to the rear axle pinion gear input.

  • Importance: Ensures reliable torque transfer from the drivetrain into the axle final drive, minimizing vibration and wear.
