Half Yoke — Mahindra Maximo — Description
Transmission Shaft for Mahindra Maxximo Mini Van / Maxximo PL
(This part is related to the driveline where half yokes are used — the half yoke mates with components like the propeller shaft.)A half yoke in the Mahindra Maximo driveline is a critical propeller shaft / universal joint component that forms part of the vehicle’s torque‑transmitting system between the gearbox and rear axle.
What It Is:
A half yoke is one half of a pair of yokes in a universal joint (U‑joint) assembly on the propeller/drive shaft.
It typically attaches to one side of the driveshaft and provides the mounting surface for two bearing caps of the universal joint cross (spider). The universal joint then connects this yoke to a companion yoke.
Function:
Torque Transfer: It supports and transmits rotational power from the drivetrain through the U‑joint cross to the next shaft segment. The yoke and cross assembly allow the driveshaft to transmit torque even when the shafts are at an angle.
Flexibility & Movement: Because the half yoke works with the U‑joint cross, it lets the driveline accommodate angular misalignment and suspension movement, reducing vibration and mechanical stress.
Support & Alignment: The yoke ensures the universal joint stays seated properly, maintaining alignment and preventing premature wear in the propeller shaft assembly.
